Motivating yourself to get back up after being knocked down

How many of us can relate to falling many times? Falling in terms of working so hard to be successful and when you think everything is going great, suddenly life throws something at you and knocks you down. Well I am not exempted, that has been my experience the last few weeks.

Tired and demotivated I wondered whether I could make it has an entrepreneur, and not to mention the personal challenges. One in particular, where my father lost his leg in the fight against diabetes. I felt empty. I did not even know what to write about.

I always believe in sharing my passion. I am no writer and I am still learning but I love to write from my heart.

Today I just thought I would share on how to motivate yourself to get back up after being knocked down. Just a few tips that I am applying to my own life. Maybe in some small way it may assist you as well.

As an entrepreneur one of the first things I decided to do is to stop being hard on myself. Sometimes if I shared something on one of the social media sites and no one liked it, I would feel like I failed, like I did something wrong. However, I have learnt that not everyone will like what you do and that is ok. Also success is a journey, just the fact that I decided to write is in fact a success :). The truth is everything takes time it is not going to happen overnight.

The next thing I did was instead of always shutting away from people and being on my laptop, I decided to connect with people that can elevate me. It is ok to ask for help. Surrounding yourself with positive and successful individuals can help you feel better about yourself. Their positive support and encouragement will assist you in wanting to achieve and to do your best one day at a time.

This next motivator is very important. Get up and do something. It can be as simple as going for a walk, joining the gym or just doing something to help someone. Moving about helps you feel better both physically and mentally. I have learnt  also that when we start to focus on others our own situations suddenly looks pale in comparison. Knowing that you have contributed to putting a smile on the face of someone automatically puts a smile on your own face. :)

Well I hope this put a smile on your face. Remember the journey is not for the swiftest but for those who endure. Have a productive day and remember to dress with Fi-nesse. www.facebook.com/finesseregal

Inspiration with Fashion- My Passion

Today I wanted to share with you a little about my passion. The world today as we know can be a very cold and loveless place and almost each person has experienced some sort of pain in their life. When I reflect on my own life I am not exempt. This made me want to attempt to make a difference so I started a support group for women and yes this is where my passion lies. At the end of the day I am drained but content. Content in knowing that I made someone smile or gave them hope.
I am also actively involved in a few charities that includes assisting children and women who are or have been abused. (www.facebook.com/womenofpurposett.)

Someone once said our deepest pain empowers us to grow into our highest self. I believe that no matter what we may have experienced, with love and support or self-determination we can achieve anything that we want. :)

I do not want any reward or accolades my joy comes from seeing the smile on the faces of these beautiful and amazing individuals. It does not take much to transform or empower someone all it takes is a compassionate heart.

If each of us can take the time to reach one individual then we would have accomplished our objectives. As individuals in particular women let us continue to unite and support each other not just for ourselves but for the future generation.

Be empowered and have an amazing day.

Inspiration with Fashion- Appropriate dressing for the office party

Office parties can occur at various times throughout the year. The important thing to remember if you are attending, is dress to impress but still maintain your professional dignity. This is very important because when the party is over, you still have to go back to the office and you do not want to give anyone an opportunity to be talking negatively about you.

You want to wear something that is classy but not trashy. Please do not wear skirts that are too short or tops that reveals too much cleavage. Also try not to wear colours that are too bright where you tend to stand out. Wearing darker colours is more appropriate and blends well. Of course you want to wear shoes that are appropriate but comfortable. Keep the flip flops for the beach :)

It is ok to have fun but you still have to maintain your professionalism. Try and avoid clothes that are trending. Not because a famous movie star is wearing something means you have to wear it as well.

Knowing the culture of your company can also help you. For instance if your colleagues are classy, you may want to wear classy  and so on.

Remember 'beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.' Kahlil Gibran.

Inspiration with Fashion: The importance of proper office etiquette

How many of us have worked in an office or continues to work in an office and are sometimes appalled at the behavior of some of our co-workers?Today I would like to share with you a little on proper office etiquette. I believe that it is very important to carry ourselves and behave in a professional manner at all times. Office etiquette is all those positive values that we bring to that environment. It goes beyond common courtesies like good morning. It is about having integrity and being thoughtful and respectful to others.

Remember you have to' co-habit' with a group of people for eight hours or more so you want to ensure that there is a good 'harmonial' relationship in order to achieve the company's objectives. I know sometimes this might be a bit challenging because you have to work with individuals of varying personalities and there may be times when they can get on your nerves. However once you do what you have to you would be amazed as to how others would respect and support you.

One of the things you do not want to do is show up late for work. This tends to indicate a lack of respect not just for others but also yourself. Also by showing up late may have others questioning your reliability as it pertains to the job.

Another thing you do not want to do is use inappropriate language. It is really distasteful to hear swear words in an office environment or any environment for that matter. Please do not shout across the office as though you are in a field. Use soft tones to communicate.

This is the one that gets me the most. Inappropriate dressing. Please keep the dangle earrings, flip flops, too short or extremely tight attire out of the office. You want to dress in a manner that is professional. A manner that reflects good leadership qualities.

Therefore maintain your focus and complete the objectives.

"Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you." Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Inspiration with Fashion- Balancing Work and Study

Hello Everyone,
It's been a while since my last post. This is because my brain was on buffer :). I could not think of anything to write.Working and studying is no easy thing and many times you can't seem to fit everything in your schedule. Well, if this is you and you are having a little difficulty in balancing your life, hopefully this might offer some insight that may help you achieve this balance. Like you, I was going through the same thing.

I remember going to one of my lecturers and telling her that this programme is taking sooooo long. One of the things she said to me was quality is better than quantity. I know we set a time frame to complete our programmes, however sometimes it is better to take our time so we can graduate with a great GPA. I also discovered some great tips that can help us keep balanced so we do not get burnt out or despondent on the journey.

One very important thing is organizing. It is very important to keep things organized especially when it comes to assignments. Sometimes I tend to procrastinate and find myself rushing to do three or more different assignments that is due on the same day. I have found that if I do a time table and start my assignments early I would not feel frazzled and rushed to get them done on time.

Another thing you can do is take time out. Working and studying is not easy so you would feel stressed. It is important to take a little time away to help you relax. Some things can be helpful are excercising, going to the beach or just hanging out with friends. These can help to rejuvenate you, so you can get back your focus.

Do not take on more than you can handle. For me am involved in varies charities, so there are times when I fee so overwhelmed that I had to put some on hold. We would like to think of ourselves as superhuman but we are not. The reality is we can only do so much. So do what you can with the best of your ability.

Also when you start to feel demotivated, remind yourself as to why you are pursuing the particular course of study. This will help to motivate you because it is a goal that you want to achieve. So thinking about the why will help you get back your focus.

Remember believe in yourself. Believe you can do it. Everyone who is successful had to work very hard as well and if they can do it. You can as well (we :)  )

Always dress with Fi-nesse

Inspiration with Fashion: Being confident in who you are!

Do you sometimes feel or wish you had more confidence? I used to feel that way. (well sometimes I still do :) ). The pressure of society trying to dictate how much I should weigh, how I should wear my hair or even walk can be a bit daunting. If you are anything like me then you would totally disregard society and embrace the unique beauty that God has given to you.

I know sometimes it can be difficult. Maybe as a child you were meeted with negative words by those close to you or even now as an adult. I can relate to that fully. It took me a long time to embrace me but I did it. If I can do it then you can as well. Do not allow anyone to define you!!! However if you are still struggling here are a few things that has helped me maybe you can try it as well.

Accept the way you are -There is no other person in the world with your smile, your laugh, your hair etc..that's right (look in the mirror and smile :)) ).
Wear what you want to wear- make sure it compliments your body, choose flattering colours..and try to be as natural as possible.. you do not need to mask your beauty with overdone make up.
Talk to youself in the mirror-smile, words have power, the more positive things you say, the more it would be felt.
Take care of you- love your body, excercise, treat yourself ( and it is ok to have ice-cream :) )

These are just a few things that helps me. I hope it will help you..
Remember you are beautiful and unique...Love yourself..

Now put on your Smile ( which is your best assest ) and step confidently into the world.

The Importance of wearing the right colours to the office

Have you ever noticed that when you wear a certain colour/s it does something to your mood. Well there is a reason for that. Based on the Psychology of colour, colours and mood are inextricably linked. Apart from  wearing the most appropriate colours in our social life, it is also important that we choose the most appropriate colours for the office.Wearing the right colours at the office will not only boost our confidence but also allow us to be more efficient and effective.

Some of the best colours to wear are green, blue, brown and of course black. The colour green is known as the money colour. It denotes freshness and harmony and is also pleasing to the eyes. Blue has always been known as a calming colour. Wearing this colour tends to keep you calm and in control. Brown is the colour of stability and Black is the authority colour and can also be very elegant.

Colours that should not be worn to the office are red, yellow and grey. Red is the passion or aggressive colour and wearing it to the office may cause you to be seen as not too friendly. Yellow is a happy colour but for the office it can be considered to be unstable or overenergizing. Grey deotes negativity and lack of energy, so you definitely do not want to wear it.
Of course there are colours you can wear in moderation or as accents such as purple or white.

Although wearing certain colours do affect our mood. I believe that by cordinating our colours properly we can still look great, feel great and be effective at the office.

Each of us is created with our own unique physical beauty. Sometimes lack of embracing our bodies causes us to take sometimes extreme measures in wanting the 'perfect body'. I believe that we should aspire to be holistic. In other words take a few minutes for yourself daily. Have a proper diet and excercise regime ( simply walking, sharing with friends or meditation). Be beautiful in you and as Dr. Zuess says be the best you that you can be. :)

Just a few tips I found #realsimple on getting the right fit for your body type: Which type are you?

Knowing your body type makes it easier for you to wear what is most appropriate and flattering to your body. Most women fall into four categories ;Circle (thick around the middle), Triangle (larger at the bottom), Hourglass (curvy but evenly proportioned) and Rectangle ( straight up and down). I will continue next on the most appropriate pieces you should wear for your bodytype.

Celebrate you! :)

The importance of foundation garments...

Foundation garments of many types are used to change one’s shape so that clothing worn over them show off the figure to its best advantage. They can range from the highly restrictive corset to simple brassieres, girdles or support garments like the popular Spanx.
Foundation garments, which may be alternately called shapewear, have undergone many changes throughout the centuries, but they all provide a body foundation, upon which clothing is built. They’re by no means miracle workers. If you wear a size 14, a girdle will not have you wearing a size 2 no matter how much you might like it to achieve that affect. But some foundation garments can pull in the waist slightly, make the thigh or buttocks appear lifted or smoother, and of course lift the breasts, making them appear supported, and smaller or bigger. Beauty...

"Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart and most importantly, a beautiful soul." - Anonymous

Our vision is to assist women in embracing their true and unique

beauty (fearfully and wonderfully made) and not to conform to

society's portrayal of what beauty is. Today's society is primarily

focused on artificial aesthetics and this can often negatively

influence women to conform. This can also be the root cause of many

complexes and self-esteem issues that women may develop. The House of

Finesse believes in holistically empowering women to believe in their

own self-worth and the dynamism of being a woman of substance.
